The MINDSTIM clinical trial officially started!

Posted on 04 January, 2024

A new year, another Milestone in Bottneuro’s journey to develop a non-invasive Alzheimer’s Disease therapy. The MINDSTIM clinical trial officially started!

  • MINDSTIM is a single-arm, monocentric pilot #study investigating the #safety and comfort of transcranial alternate current stimulation with the Miamind® Neurostimulator in healthy volunteers.
  • Eight (8) healthy volunteers will be enrolled in MINDSTIM. Results are expected by end of March 2024.
  • MINDSTIM is conducted by Prof. Raphael Guzman at the University Hospital Basel together with Bottneuro as sponsor.
  • MINDSTIM paves the path for clinical application of the Miamind® Neurostimulator for home-based, repetitive neuromodulation.

Over the last years, we’ve developed the Miamind® Neurostimulator for precise, non-invasive neuromodulation using mild alternating currents to entrain neural activity in targeted brain regions. These days we’ve received all necessary approvals to begin our initial clinical trial with the personalized Miamind® Neurostimulator. The study is conducted at the Department of Neurosurgery at the USB by Raphael Guzman with Bottneuro as sponsor. This is a first in-human trial using the personalized Miamind® Neurostimulator in healthy volunteers. Thanks to the joined effort of the University Hospital Basel and our clinical research partner HEMEX.

MINDSTIM investigates the safety, feasibility, and biological effects of our newly developed Miamind® Neurostimulator. For this pilot study, 8 healthy volunteers over the age of 18 are enrolled. The results of the study are used to progress the development of neuromodulation therapies for psychiatric and neurological conditions. Based on these results, we will continue our clinical trials, investigating the efficiency for tACS in Alzheimer’s Disease patients. These trials are performed in accordance with the regulatory authorities to receive clearance and finally help patients in need.
